Team approach to patient management – Alfie’s story

Feb 23, 2018 | News

Alfie presented with severe neck pain and high fever to our Emergency and Critical Care Specialist Adam Mugford. He had several diagnostic tests performed with our Neurology Specialist Angela Fadda that identified meningitis and changes in his spine and thorax probably caused by a migrating foreign body.

Our Soft Tissue Specialist Ed Friend with the help one of our Interns Joao performed a delicate surgery to better identify the problem. Alfie had to be hospitalised with us for a couple of weeks. All of our team fell in love with him.

He has made a great recovery and he has been reunited with his wonderful family.

Alfie is a fantastic example of the team approach to the patient care and management that we as a multi-disciplinary hospital can offer.
