The internal medicine specialists at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists will diagnose and treat many conditions that affect a single organ, an organ system or the entire body. Endocrine conditions (diseases of glands that produce hormones), gastroenterology (conditions involving the stomach and gut, bowel and organs such as the pancreas), diseases of the urinary system (including the kidney, bladder and urethra), respiratory conditions and many others can be investigated by blood tests but some may require ultrasound, x-ray, CT-scan or endoscopy.
Endoscopy is a specialised test that involves using a small camera to investigate not only the intestinal tract but also the airways (nose, windpipe and lungs) and the urinary system (bladder and urethra). Through the camera, small instruments can be used to collect samples (biopsy) from within these organs to test for specific diseases. Based on these results our specialists will be able develop the best treatment plan, tailored to your pet’s condition.
