Rotating Internship here at Lumbry Park

23rd July 2021

We are looking for a enthusiastic and highly motivated intern who is committed to practising the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care and who would relish the opportunity to further their career, improve their knowledge base and technical skills. We aim to provide an internship programme to nurture the best and brightest Veterinary Surgeons to serve as the foundations and grassroots for future generations as well as prepare them for advanced postgraduate training programmes such as residencies.

Our Internship Programme

The rotating internship at Lumbry Park is a fixed one-year position. In this exciting role, you will work under the supervision of and support specialists in several disciplines. In addition, you will participate and present in Grand Rounds, Morbidity and Mortality rounds, journal club and book clubs.

The current rotations assigned to the referral services are:

  • Anaesthesia and Analgesia
  • Emergency and Critical Care
  • Soft tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Internal Medicine
  • With some time for neurology, neurosurgery and cardiology

Out-of-hours coverage is a fundamental part of an internship; you will cover the night shift, working a full week of nights on a one in six basis and provide back-up to colleagues in the event of unforeseen absence. During these shifts you will be working alongside Registered Veterinary Nurses and will be responsible for patients in the Intensive Care Unit and general hospital wards with back-up support from clinicians in different disciplines.
