Matt completed his undergraduate degree at Newcastle University in 2017 before going on to study Veterinary Science at the University of Liverpool, graduating in 2022. After qualifying, he spent two years working in a busy first opinion hospital in North Wales, where he also took on emergency out of hours work as well as working towards his post-graduate certificate in emergency and critical care (ECC). He later completed a rotating internship at the University of Liverpool Small Animal Teaching Hospital, where he discovered a particular passion for anaesthesia and pain management. In March 2025, Matt began a residency in veterinary anaesthesia at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists contributing to the safe anaesthesia of patients under his care, seeing patients in the pain clinic, and educating the veterinary community in safe anaesthesia practice. Matt also works in the ECC/acute medicine department to triage, diagnose, and treat critically unwell animals.
Outside of work, he enjoys exploring the great outdoors with his two Labrador Retrievers.
