What to expect when visiting us
To make your visit to us as relaxed as possible, we have detailed below everything you need to know to prepare for your pet’s appointment and to understand what to expect before you arrive.
Your pet’s appointment will be held at our hospital just outside of Alton, and you can find directions to our facility via Google Maps.
Preparing for your visit to Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists
Upon arrival at Lumbry Park, you will be greeted by our welcoming reception team. They will be able to go through all paperwork and insurance information with you ahead of the appointment, to make the process as smooth as possible. All paperwork will be discussed at the time of booking, to make sure you are prepared before setting off to us.
We would ask you to not feed your pet 4-6 hours before their appointment, to allow them to proceedd with investigations the same day (depending on emergency status).
Your pet’s visit with us
When your pet is referred to us, your vet will send us your pet’s clinical information and we will then contact you to arrange your appointment. Once your appointment has been made we will send you a client pack detailing what to expect for your individual appointment.
One of our clinicians will see you in a consultation room to thoroughly review your pet’s medical history. This is an important aspect of your consultation. A thorough general physical examination will be performed followed by a specific examination.
If you are insured, please bring a claim form with you. If you are not uninsured, please bring means of payment to your appointment. See the Insurance and Payment page for full details.
Looking after your pet
Your pet will be under the care of one of our clinicians. However, we have a large team behind the scenes who also look after your pet. All of our nurses are fully qualified and registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RVN). In our specialist wards, the nursing team works closely with a team of Patient Care Assistants who are responsible for walking the dogs out regularly throughout the day, assisting patients to eat and providing “tender loving care” to your pet.
At Lumbry Park we recognise that care overnight is just as important as during the day, therefore we have a dedicated team of night nurses who care for patients throughout the night and are supported by experienced clinicians. Our team is always happy to update you on your pet throughout the day.
