Our New MRI Scanner is here, it’s the first of its kind to be installed in the UK – in either human or veterinary healthcare.

Our new Siemens Magnetom Flow is a 1.5T MRI unit being craned into our Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists hospital.
How to get a new MRI scanner into a veterinary hospital?
Make a large hole in its first floor and crane it in!
The new unit was installed in a complex operation over 3 days, involving a 2-day lorry delivery journey from Germany, the building of a two-storey unloading platform, 12 people and one crane on site, and an 8 foot cavity being cut into Lumbry Park’s imaging suite external wall.
We’re thrilled to announce that the installation is complete, and we’ve already done over 70 CT scans.
The Magnetom Flow
Our new MRI scanner, The Magnetom Flow, significantly reduces helium consumption, making it a more sustainable and environmentally friendly option. It uses just 0.7L of helium instead of up to 1,500L used in standard MRI machines.
The new machine also uses AI-enhanced technology to produce excellent image quality, with lower examination times, reducing the length of time that our patients will be under anaesthesia.
The results are truly remarkable. Our team of expert radiologists and radiographers are eager to continue to utilize this advanced technology to provide the highest quality diagnostic imaging for your pets.
