Matteo graduated from the University of Milan in 2006. He subsequently pursued a 3 years program in the same University which combined a PhD with clinical work focusing or airway and urogenital diseases in dogs and cats as well as medical and surgical Oncology.  Following completion of the PhD in 2009, he worked in general practice for a year and  then enrolled in a small animal rotating internship in a private referral practice in the UK and then a surgical internship at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, in Edinburgh. He continued his surgical training in Edinburgh Vet School with a three-year residency training programme in small animal surgery.

Matteo became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) in 2015 and has worked as an Orthopaedics and Soft Tissue Surgeon in referral practice in the South of England. Since 2020 Matteo decided to focus solely on Soft Tissue Surgery and has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery as well as surgical oncology.

Matteo joined the team at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists in 2024. He has been active in clinical research, having published several articles in peer reviewed journals. He enjoys teaching and regularly travels to his home country to lecture on Small Animal Surgery.
