Reception

Our receptionists will welcome you and register your pet with us. You can then take a seat with your pet in our pet-friendly waiting area. We have a separate waiting area for cats so that you cat is as relaxed as possible. We have dedicated disabled access & toilets. Refreshments are available throughout the day (tea/ coffee/ water/ snacks). We also have free wi-fi for guests in case you need to use your laptop, tablet or mobile device.

Your appointment

During your appointment, we will obtain a detailed history of your pet’s medical background as well as information on the current problem. A thorough clinical examination of your pet will then be performed and any findings and provisional diagnoses will be fully discussed with you at the time. Whilst we make every effort to perform investigations and possible surgery on the same day as the consultation it is not always possible to do everything on that day. As a result, your pet may have to stay overnight or return on a different day for the procedure.  Again, this depends on the circumstances of the case and the current workload at the hospital.

Communication is key

Not only will we provide the best in quality care for your pet, but we also understand how concerned you will be about your pet and we will endeavour to keep you updated about their progress at every step of the way.

Following surgery and during hospitalisation, we will provide you with daily telephone reports. If you wish to visit your pet during their stay at the hospital, this can be arranged whenever possible, depending on the circumstances surrounding your pet’s condition.

After-care

At Lumbry Park we want to ensure that your pet returns home with the best possible prognosis, so we go the extra mile to make sure that they receive the best post-treatment care possible. If your pet has undergone major surgery and is in need of specialist care when they return home, we will work with you to help you accommodate their convalescence needs.

Patient’s care

In order to minimise stress and excitement during your pet’s stay, we have separate dog and cat waiting rooms and wards. These are cleaned several times a day to ensure maximum hygiene standards are maintained and to keep your pet comfortable. Care is taken to nurture all patients with affection and feeding structured to meet the individual needs of each dog and cat. Fussy eaters are catered for with freshly cooked food available to tempt those whose appetites have been affected by their illness or surgery. Dogs that are well enough can be taken to our outside area where they can stretch their legs, sniff and engage in normal toileting regimen.

Round-the-clock care – our dedicated team of nurses and veterinary surgeons staff the hospital 24/7 365 days a year and work tirelessly, putting your pet’s care first.

Visiting

Visits are encouraged to maintain relationships with your pet during its hospitalisation. We have quiet visiting areas where you can enjoy one-to-one time with your pet. All we ask is that visits are arranged in advance with one of our nurses so that visits are not during treatment times.

Your Account

We appreciate that your pet is very special to you and that you want the best for them, but also understand that veterinary treatment costs can escalate. Treatment costs are added to your account on a daily basis. A written estimate and/or a copy of your account can be produced at any given time.

We look forward to welcoming you and your pet to Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists where your pet’s health is at the heart of our work.
